Benevolence Hall is a free community space that invites visitors to reflect on their journeys and relationships to Canada, through the lens of the Hakka (客家 / guest families). This immersive installation includes a reading room, a short documentary film, and a custom video installation “Moon Gate,” created for Toronto’s Market Gallery.

BENEVOLENCE HALL WINS INAUGURAL DORA MAVOR MOORE AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE EXPERIENCE
Benevolence Hall has been honoured with the 2024 Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Innovative Experience. Benevolence Hall is the inaugural winner of this new award category at Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts’ Dora Mavor Moore Awards. The award was presented on June 24, 2024 at the 44th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, hosted by Ryan G. Hinds and featuring award-winning music director and composer Adam Sakiyama, at the historic Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre
